Another of the countries most well known fisheries

Weston Pools is a great commercial that is located in Oswestry, Shropshire. The venue is a haven to match and pleasure anglers who like to take advantage of the great fishing on offer. There is a difficult choice of 6 waters:

The Belvedere – an oval shaped lake which has 32 pegs. In here there are barbel up to 12lbs and carp into double figures.

The Canal – the largest water on the complex, the 50 pegs are popular with both pleasure and match fishermen. The lake is well stocked with a wide range of species, match tactics suited to the weather conditions should see you catch a net full.

Jack’s Pool – the oldest lake at the venue, the oval lake features a central island. The most popular method here is to fish a feeder or straight lead underneath the trees that hang from the island.

The Stretton – a water similar to the Jack’s pool, but this one was redeveloped and the central island was removed. If you like fishing big open waters then this will be a good choice.

The Clay Pit – this lake is located off the main site which is around 1 mile away. It is a large, mature water that is stocked with a wide range of species. The carp in here run into the late teens, there are also some big ghosties.

The Weir – a smaller match style lake which contains carp and barbel that nearly run into double figures. There are lots of fish in here, so you should be guaranteed plenty of bites.

The fishery hosts a number of matches through the week. Interestingly they hold a few roaming matches where you draw a peg and can then pick anywhere in the fishery to fish. If you aren’t very good when it comes to the draw bag, that could be something to consider!
