Weston Moat Fishery is located in Weston-on-Trent, Derbyshire. There are lots of places to go fishing in this area, but this is one of the better venues. If you like fishing more natural venues rather than snake-lake commercials then this will certainly be somewhere you should pay a visit.
The water is around 2.5 acres in size, which is bigger than most commercials, but not a big daunting water. Depth wise, this is quite deep with most pegs seeing 8-12ft of water. Make sure you have some pole rigs set up with this in mind, otherwise you might be tying up some emergency rigs on the bank. The same if you are going to fish with a fixed waggler, it might be best to fish a slider instead.
The lake is stocked with a wide range of species. If big carp are your thing then there are plenty in here that go into the mid 20s. If you prefer to fish match style tactics then there are tench, roach, barbel and some big proper slabby bream to target. Don’t fish too light and make sure your approach can keep theses type of fish feeding all day.
Weston Moat Fishery is next to another popular venue, Coopers Lake. As you head up the side of the village green you will find Weston Moat on the right and Coopers on the left.
