Barford Lakes near Norwich is one of the most popular places to go fishing in East Anglia. The venue offers great sport for match and pleasure anglers of all abilities – you should catch fish here all year round. The lakes are stocked with a wide range of coarse fish, match weights often go over 200lbs, so make sure that you are ready for an arm busting session.
The main Barford site features the following waters:
Pleasure Lake – a 2.5 acre lake that has matured well over the past 10 years. The carp go towards 20lb and average at around 6lbs. The lake also contains bream to 10lbs, roach to 3lbs and tench to 6lb.
Top Lake – a smaller 15 peg lake which is packed with fish. The fishing on here is great fun in the summer months, the carp go to around 12lbs and average at around 5lbs.
Match Lake – this lake is only used for matches, so there is no pleasure fishing on here. The stocking is very similar to the Top Lake.
Training Lake – there are just 6 pegs on here. The lake is stocked with a good head of smaller fish, so it is a great place for people to start learning about fishing.

Colton Lake – this lake is off the main fishery, located around 5 minutes away in Colton. This 2 acre lake contains a large head of big carp, the match record on here is over 300lbs!
Railway Lake – located in n Thuxton (nr Garvestone) there are 62 pegs on offer here. The lake offers great silverfish sport, along with a chance of hooking into one of the original stock of carp.
Willow Lake – also located in n Thuxton (nr Garvestone) and is the newest of the Barford lakes. The 35 pegs offer the chance to bag on carp between 2-10lbs.
Abbey Waters – this lake is a 25 minute drive from the main fishery, located at Old Buckenham in Norfolk. The lake is stocked with a good mixture of species along with carp that go to around 12lbs.
