Birchmere Lake is an 11 acre fishery that can be found in Thamesmead, South East London. Despite its size, the water is stocked with a large head of fish, so there is plenty of choice for specimen hunters, matchmen and pleasure anglers. The carpers have a good chance of hooking a lump, the carp here run into the low 30s.
Anyone who is into pike fishing may be familiar with Birchmere, one of the resident 41 pounders held the UK record for a while. The lake is often used for matches, so it might be wise to check locally that you are able to fish before heading over for a session.
