Derwent Reservoir is a water that is much more familiar fly anglers that those who enjoy catching coarse species. This stunning venue has recently been opened up to allow people to use coarse methods and bag up on the big shoals of silverfish that can be found lurking in the depths.
The water here is very large – nearly 1000 acres! If you need a change from a snake lake commercial, then this could be just what you need. A day here bagging on the silvers would be a very rewarding experience. However, you might need a few sessions to optimise your approach and get on the fish. If you do find them, the roach here are pretty special.
The coarse fishing here is currently restricted to the dam wall.
